I'm sure tons of people have had some questions after watching Utena, especially the movie. After watching the movie over four times I think I have a good understanding of it now. Also, This is a major **SPOILER** so if you don't want for it to be ruined, don't read on.Thanks -=Adoogen=-
Why does Miki click his stopwatch all the time?
Explanation When Miki clicks his stopwatch, that means within the time that is on the watch something important to story was just explained/happened. For example, he clicks his watch and it shows 16.9 seconds, so in the 16.9 seconds before that something happened that was vital. This rule applies to most of the times he clicks his watch, but not all the times.
What was the point of the movie, let alone the series?
Explanation All right *breathes in*. All of Utena is one huge metaphor. That being that the series Utena is a dream! Who's dream you may ask? Utena's? No, the entire series is Anthy's dream (also, I'm not quite sure, but I've been told it could be Akio's dream too). Everyone in the series represents an emotion inside Anthy. Utena, of course was Anthy's Courage. The problem is that Anthy is stuck in the dream, which means someone must "Revolutionize the world!" so she can leave. Whoever she leaves the dream with is going to be her predominant emotion. Also in the movie referred to as "The other world" which actually is the real one. Phew, I bet I've left something out...
Why was there so much sexual theme in the Adolescence of Utena?
Explanation Umm, well. I believe the reason that there was sexual tension between Utena and Anthy was another metaphor. Simply meaning that Anthy's was "embracing" her courage, getting ready to leave.
In the movie was Touga really dead?
ExplanationYes. He died while trying to save Jury who was the girl in the boat. (I do have proof Jury was the one in the boat, because that's what the creator said in an interview)
If it was all a dream, then why didn't Anthy leave sooner with Utena?
Explanation Well, in the movie, the reason each emotion/character couldn't leave with Anthy is because they each had some little personal problem that they were hung up on. Utena wouldn't let go of Touga's death until the moment in the elevator, with that free of her conscious she could then "Revolutionize the World!"
What's the deal with ChuChu?
ExplanationAh yes, the spazzy little mouse/monkey. If you've searched the net long enough I'm sure that you've heard people say that Akio is ChuChu, which is not true. ChuChu is trying to be like Dios for Anthy, his ring and tie are suppose to reflect Akio, but not the Akio we see in the series. In the end of the series though, ChuChu gives it up as we can see that he takes off his earring and leaves with Anthy.

I'm not really sure about this whole interpretation though, if someone has evidence against it, tell me.
Any more questions? I'm sure as good of an explainer as I am, that you shouldn't have any. But nevertheless, send them to me at adoogen@hotmail.com
