Tenjou UtenaAge:: 14
Grade:: 8
Birthday:: December 29
Zodiac Sign:: Capricorn
Blood Type:: B
Hobbies:: Sports, collecting teacups, cookingTenjou Utena is the main character of the story. She is very popular at her private school, Ohtori Academy. Utena attracts a lot of attention with her pink hair, manners, and personality. She is usually high spirited and happy.
She enjoys playing most sports and excels at it too. Her favourite seems to be basketball, and a boy offered her to play on the boys' team but Utena declined. Utena is very strong and can carry her best friend, Shinohara Wakaba, on her back. I myself would never carry any of my friends on my back, buncha slops, ha.
Utena is always saying that she would rather be the prince protecting the princess than the princess being protected. That could explain her tomboy-ish personality. Utena also wears the black men's uniform at her school, which disturbs her female teacher greatly. Her teacher is always trying to get her to wear a girl's uniform, but to no avail since Utena points out that there is no rule against a female wearing a male's uniform.
Utena lost her parents when she was a small child, and a prince came to her and gave her a ring with a rose emblem (which would further on give her access to the Duel Arena hidden in the forest north of the Ohtori campus). He told her that the ring would guide her to her fate, and back to him. This could also explain why Utena is always "trying to become" a prince.
It was by chance that Utena got caught up in the Duels. Wakaba had been humiliated by Saionji Kyouichi and Utena challenged him to defend her friend. Kyouichi believes that Utena knows about the duels and she finds out about the Duel Arena and the duels held by the Student Council.
Utena is the current Victor of the Duelists- the champion. She had defeated Kyouichi and is now "engaged" to the Rose Bride, Himemiya Anthy. Utena now lives with Anthy and does not believe how she obeys her all the time. This makes Utena uncomfortable, but determined to break Anthy free from her fate and position. Nonetheless, the two have become very dear friends.
As part of the price of being the Victor of the Duellists, Utena is constantly challenged to duels to defend her title. Everyone wants the "power to revolutionize" the world, and could Utena be the one who can revolutionize the world?Age:: 14
Grade:: 8
Birthday:: February 29 *Leap year Odd eh?*
Zodiac Sign:: Pisces
Blood Type:: AB
Hobbies:: Playing cards, animals, gardening.Meet the one's who fate is determined by the Victor of the Duellists: Himemiya Anthy. She is the Rose Bride, the flower of the Victor of the Duellists.
As the Rose Bride, it appears as though Anthy has no will of her own, no desire. She does as the Victor pleases. This is the price of being the Rose Bride. You feel like a captured animal, living in a cage. Anthy must live with the current Victor, and follows their orders. It seems like she is shut off from the world, no friends. She is exactly as she put it, she is the Victor's flower.
Anthy is quite the mysterious girl, seeing as how she has no friends (except for her little monkey-type friend, Chu Chu). Not much is known about her.
When Tenjou Utena becomes the new Victor, Anthy moves in with her and makes her first real friend. The two develop a fast and deep relationship for each other.
She tends the rose garden, and also cooks and cleans the dorm room she now shares with Utena. She makes a good housewife, and keeps the dorm looking clean and tidy. Saionji Kyouichi was the former Victor, but after being defeated at the hands of Utena, he has since then left the school but has kept up an exchange diary. Although she was abused and slapped by Kyouichi, the two do share some intense feelings for each other and love each other.
Anthy takes her fate as the Rose Bride seriously, but because Utena does not like Anthy's position, she is trying to break her free from her fate. Anthy really only pretends to wish to be like a normal girl and make real friends because Utena wishes her to.
Why do the Duelists try and get "engaged" to the Rose Bride? Simple, for the reason that they believe you will be granted a miracle power, the power to revolutionize the world.Touga Kiyuu The respected president of the Student Council at Ohtori Academy, he somewhat looks down on others. All the other members of the Student Council know not to mess with him, and all respect him greatly. A self-described "playboy," he is quite popular with the girls at Ohtori. With his fiery red hair, and his smile, most girls are willing to do anything for him. But he has his best interests now focused on Tenjou Utena, who has impressed him. But maybe for not the reason that she is the Victor of the Duelists, but quite possibly because she is the first girl to ever turn down an offer from Touga. Touga is in the eleventh grade, and has a little sister, Kiryuu Nanami. Nanami is quite devoted to him and often is meddlesome with Touga and his girls. Often she victimizes Utena because of Touga's great interest in her. Others fear him because of his position of authority, and sometimes it seems as if Touga plays this fear into his advantage to get the girls, as well as anything else he wants. The only thing he cannot get though is Utena (hehe). She isn't impressed by his behaviour, his methods or himself and is constantly turning down Touga's advances. Yet, Touga persists- but could it be that he just wants the thrill of getting the unattainable or does he really care for her? Touga is very egotistical, he is full of pride. He is usually in thinking about the struggle to obtain the power to revolutionize the world. But he's still cool, at least i think so.
Saionji Kyouichi Captain of the Kendo club and vice-president of the Student Council, Saionji Kyouichi was the former Victor of the Duelists until Tenjou Utena challenged him to a duel to defend her friend, Shinohara Wakaba who had written him a love letter. He rejected the letter and threw it out. Later, it was posted up on a bulleting board at the school and Wakaba was humiliated. He was then humiliated in turn by losing his position as Victor of the Duelists to Utena. With his long, wavy, green hair, Kyouichi is just as popular with the girls as Kiryuu Touga is. But he seems devoted to his former Rose Bride, Himemiya Anthy. Though he slaps and mistreats Anthy all the time, he does in fact care for her and is in love with her. He was "engaged" to her as the Victor of the Duelists, but once Utena defeated him, Anthy moved out to live with the new Victor. Although he is no longer the Victor of the Duelists, he is keeping an exchange diary with Anthy. After being defeated in the duel, Kyouichi decided to quite the Kendo club, did not attend many Student Council meetings and seemed to have disappeared from the school. Kyouichi comes back after a period and secretly resides in Wakaba's dorm. She is still hopeful that he will fall for her, but she finds out the truth: he is still in love with Anthy. Saionji Kyouichi is not respected like other Student Council members, but he is feared by most
Arisugawa Juri
A member of the Student Council, Arisugawa Juri is a little feared by all, including the staff at Ohtori Academy. This indicates just how much power she, and the other Student Council members, have over the staff and students. Juri is the captain of the fencing team, and is quite sure and proud. She is certain that her fencing skills are excellent. Juri takes things in a very serious manner, and does not believe in the power of miracles. Does she believes in the power to revolutionize the world? She seeks that power for her own personal reasons, as do the rest of the Student Council members. Because she does not believe in miracles, it has caused her to be enraged with Tenjou Utena and challenged her to a duel. She lost.
Juri is in the tenth grade, and a respected beauty. Juri is respectful to Kiryuu Touga, even though she is known to be proud. She takes great pride in her skills and accomplishments.
Her best friend is Takatsuki Shiori, and she has known her since childhood. In fact, Juri has special feelings for Shiori, it is hinted that she is in love with her (yes, making her a lesbian). But Shiori and Juri have a somewhat rocky past involving a guy. Apparently, a guy liked Juri, but she would have nothing to do with him. Shiori was secretly in love with him, and stole him away. She never found out that Juri was in love with her until she came back to Ohtori Academy and saw that her picture was in Juri's locket that she wears around her neck. Juri always said the one she loved was in that locket and could never love her back.
During a second duel with Utena, her locket was accidentally cut, and seeing as how her locket is very important to Juri, she "forfeited" by taking out the rose from her breast pocket herself. Juri's intention to revolutionize the world has to do with her feelings for Shiori.
Juri does not believe in miracles because of her one-way love towards her friend. "Believe in a miracle, that your wish come true." That was Shiori's saying, but Juri always knew her love would be unfulfilled. It is quite possible that Juri seeks the power to revolutionize the world to disprove the power of miracles. If miracles have existed, wouldn't Juri have been able to win Shiori's love? Or does Juri really want to disprove the power of miracles?
Little Fact:: The voice of Juri is provided by Mitsuishi Kotono, who also did the voice of the ever famous Usagi/Sailormoon of Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon series.A member of the Student Council, Kozue Miki is a seventh grader. But unlike most, his skills are above the level of most and matches and rivals those of the other Student Council members. He is quite intelligent, and his fencing skills are as good as Arisugawa Juri's, a fellow member and friend of Miki. Miki has a twin sister, Kozue Kaoru, but whom he rarely speaks or interacts with. They share an interesting relationship, somewhat reminiscent of that of Kiryuu Touga and Kiryuu Nanami. Kaoru often does things that she knows that Miki would never approve of so that he may think and worry over her, just to draw a little attention from her twin brother. When Miki was young, he and sister played the piano together and wrote a song together that is still played by many others to this day. But Miki plays alone now, trying to play like he once did with his sister, but cannot do it. Nonetheless, other students find him extremely talented at playing the piano. Supposedly, Miki is trying to find "Something shining." He once had this "Something shining" when he played with his sister, which is most likely why he is seeking this out. One day, Miki overheard Himemiya Anthy play the piano in the music room and it was hinted that he had strong feelings for Anthy. He then found out that if Tenjou Utena, the current Victor of the Duelists, wanted Anthy to stop playing the piano, that she would have to obey her and stop playing completely. Miki challenges Utena to protect Anthy and her music. He believes that she has that "Something shining." Miki is well behaved, and is somewhat popular in his own respect. He has this obssession with carrying a stopwatch and is constantly fiddling around with it, making it seem as though he is rushing or waiting for something to be on time.
Little Fact:: The voice of Miki is supplied by Hisakawa Aya who also did the voice of the very popular and beloved Mizuno Ami/Sailormercury of Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon.Kiryuu Nanami Kiryuu Nanami is in the seventh grade and is the younger sister of Kiryuu Touga. She is fiercely (and freakishly in my opinion) devoted to her brother...could it be that she is in love with her own brother? Nanami is always trying to "protect" her brother. By this, she really is just trying to get the girls out of Touga's life. Seeing as how her brother has a certain and deep interest in Tenjou Utena, she is always playing tricks on her. She is constantly jealous of Utena and how her brother is lusting after her. You could call Nanami ambitious, but to an extreme. She stops at nothing to get what she desires and this explains why Nanami always plays dirty tricks on Utena. She is quite the meddlesome sister, and her favorite victim is obviously Utena seeing as how she is Touga's object of desire. Nanami has a party of "followers." They somewhat "support" her, even though they don't seem to actually like her and are just using her to get close to Touga. They are Sonoda Keiko, Wakiya Aiko, and Oose Yuuko. Nanami also receives love letters, although she has never received/read any of them. They are written by a trio of Suzuki, Yamada and Tanaka. They are all similarly looking boys. Nanami does not care for these boys though. Tsuwabuki Mitsuru is a young boy who saves Nanami's life when she was in danger. Somebody was attempting to kill her but luckily Mitsuru was always there to protect her. But it turns out that the one who was trying to kill her was actually Mitsuru himself, he just wanted a chance to know Nanami. He then becomes Nanami's "boyfriend" but she mistreats him. Mitsuru is younger than Nanami and she leads him around as if he were her dog. She treats him like a servant, ordering him to do stuff for her. But Mitsuru is so swept away with her that he gladly does anything for her.
