Summary:

Edward and Alphonse Elric are two young boys who get involved in the art of alchemy. Alchemy believes in rearrangement of the properties of an object to create another object. The new object, however, must contain everything from the first object, the idea of equivalent trade. This theme pops up several times as the boys try to revive their mother, and on their quest to find an illusive object.

The brothers meet a lot of interesting characters and even some previous minor characters will come back to be more important or just to say "yo" again. The main characters are unique enough that they can be entertaining even when it's just them. This series starts off a bit light-hearted, but there are some definite moments when things become really serious, and sometimes even depressing. The show has a nice balance of all things good. Humor every now and then, good visuals, good characters, interesting (unique) plot, and the battle scenes are good.

Explanation for Rating:

Adoogen:
Each week I get a new episode of Full Metal Alchemist and Naruto. I use to watch Naruto first and then FMA but now it has switched. Where Naruto has failed, FMA has continued to succeed. The biggest warning I give before watching FMA is to be cautious around eps 4-10 or so. There are few eps in there that are filler and they're poo. The rest of the series though makes up for those few episodes, and you can tell when things start to get serious. I like the series in the fact that they're not afraid to kill off characters. No, it's not as bad as the series 24 killing off people left and right (24 is an amazing series however, not an anime tho), but when people get into seriously bad situations, you don't have that comfort of saying "Oh, they'll get out alright".

I think the characters are believable, except for when Edward screams at people for calling him short, and when they first face their lives being in jeopardy, you can really feel with them. Characters added in as the series continue are just as interesting, and some people that you think are gone, but later show up come back in some interesting ways.

Overall, I highly recommend this series. It's not one of those series where you can say, "Oh, you'll only like Texhnolyze if you liked Lain", it's broad enough that it should appeal to everyone.... well, not everyone, but a better chunk than most series.
